Jordan and Greece Seek to Strengthen Parliamentary Cooperation

Amman: The Jordanian-Greek Friendship Committee in the Senate, led by Senator Mohammad Dawodieh, convened with Greek Ambassador to Jordan, Irene Riga, to discuss avenues for enhancing bilateral relations, with a particular focus on parliamentary collaboration.

According to Jordan News Agency, Dawodieh emphasized the longstanding historical connections between Jordan and Greece, which continue to be bolstered by the leadership of both nations. He highlighted the significance of building upon the successful cooperation in recent years across various sectors, including parliamentary, economic, cultural, and tourism domains. Dawodieh pointed out that the relationship between the two countries is on an upward trajectory, driven by common visions and mutual interests. He also underlined the importance of parliamentary friendship committees and diplomatic missions in fortifying dialogue and exchanging expertise at both official and grassroots levels.

Moreover, Dawodieh lauded King Abdullah II's relentless efforts in advocating for the Palestinian cause and protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem under the historic Hashemite Custodianship. He acknowledged the King's pivotal contribution to promoting regional and international peace and stability.

On her part, Ambassador Riga expressed Greece's appreciation for the advanced state of Jordanian-Greek relations and praised Jordan's critical regional role under King Abdullah II's leadership. She noted Jordan's proactive stance in addressing regional challenges, supporting the Palestinian cause, and striving for peace amid current conflicts, such as the Israeli war on Gaza. Riga reiterated Greece's commitment to deepening cooperation with Jordan in various sectors, including education, culture, tourism, investment, parliamentary affairs, and renewable energy. She also stressed the need for ongoing coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest at both bilateral and international levels.
