Bani Mustafa Advocates for Overhaul of Jordan’s Associations Sector and Law

Amman: Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa emphasized the need for reforming Jordan's associations sector in alignment with the updated National Social Protection Strategy. She highlighted the importance of integrating public and private sectors with civil society institutions during a committee meeting focused on overhauling Jordan's Associations Law.

According to Jordan News Agency, Bani Mustafa stressed the necessity of revising amendments related to volunteer initiatives, income-generating community enterprises, and social responsibility. These reforms also include procedures for registration, dissolution, and the establishment of coalitions and unions. The goal is to ensure a more efficient mechanism for grading associations, which would allow for an objective assessment and active empowerment.

The minister noted that establishing a legal framework for the classification and performance assessment of associations is crucial. This framework would be based on specific principles and standards, aiming to consolidate governance, assessment, and oversight. The amendments are designed to enhance the capability of associations to provide improved services to local communities, adapting to emerging needs and enhancing performance.

During the meeting, an extensive dialogue took place to review the Law's provisions. The discussions focused on how the changes would positively impact the ability of associations to overcome obstacles and challenges, thereby improving their current services.
