Amman: President of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission (IEC), Musa Maaita, held a meeting with Iraqi counterpart Judge Omar Ahmad. Commissioner Dr. Fattah Al-Jilawi was also present during this meeting, which took place as part of the IEC's regional conference on "Digital Transformation in Election Administration."
According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions between the two sides focused on measures to improve collaborative bilateral work in the area of elections. They emphasized the exchange of expertise and strengthening of bilateral connections between Jordan and Iraq in the realm of election administration.
Maaita highlighted the significance of Iraq regaining its influential role in the Arab Organization of Electoral Management Bodies and participating actively in planning, coordination, and cooperation to enhance institutional performance at both the Arab and regional levels. He assured that the Independent Election Commission is offering comprehensive support through its technical and administrative capabilities to aid Iraq in improving its institutional performance in electoral oversight.
Judge Omar Ahmad expressed appreciation for the Independent Election Commission in Jordan, acknowledging its role in fostering rapprochement and ongoing cooperation among Arab electoral administrations. He applauded the proficiency achieved by the Independent Election Commission in managing regional elections.
