Amman: The Jordan Chamber of Commerce convened a meeting to explore joint investment opportunities between Jordan and Oman, highlighting a notable increase in trade between the two nations. The discussions focused on economic integration and the potential for strengthened cooperation in various sectors.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting included sessions on the investment climate within the Aqaba Special Economic Zone and identified promising sectors in Oman. The discussions also covered incentives provided by special economic and free zones, featuring presentations of successful investment models. Senator Khalil Haj Tawfiq, Chairperson of the Jordan and Oman Chambers of Commerce, emphasized the historical ties between the two countries and the ongoing efforts to deepen economic integration through logistics, industrial partnerships, and commercial collaboration. He urged the activation of memoranda of understanding signed the previous year, advocating for their translation into tangible projects.

Senator Haj Tawfiq noted that the meeting between His Majesty King Abdullah II and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq in May 2024 was pivotal, enhancing the political will to expand cooperation and boost mutual investments. He stressed the importance of evolving the economic relationship from traditional trade to integrated partnerships involving joint industries, re-export hubs, and supply chain collaboration, all aimed at ensuring the steady flow of essential goods and raw materials.

Omani Ambassador Sheikh Fahd bin Abdulrahman Ajili reiterated the commitment of both leaderships to strengthen bilateral ties, viewing the meeting as a platform to broaden trade, investment, and public-private partnerships essential for sustainable development. Mohammad Jitan, Vice President of the Jordanian Chambers of Industry, highlighted potential growth areas in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food industries, renewable energy, and digital transformation, aligning with Jordan's economic modernization agenda.

Ahmed bin Hassan Dheeb, head of the Omani delegation and Vice Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, outlined Oman's competitive investment environment, advanced infrastructure, and extensive free trade networks. He emphasized the importance of innovation, sustainability, and renewable energy development, inviting Jordanian businesses to consider joint ventures aimed at job creation and expanding trade flows.

Official data indicated that bilateral trade reached approximately $164 million in 2024, with Jordanian exports to Oman increasing by 30 percent to $107 million. The trade momentum continued into 2025, with a 13 percent increase in the first half compared to the same period last year.
