Jordan and Qatar Engage in Talks on Strengthening Bilateral Relations and Regional Security

Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani discussed bilateral relations and regional developments during a phone call on Sunday.

According to Jordan News Agency, the two ministers focused on ways to enhance the longstanding fraternal ties between Jordan and Qatar, aiming to serve their shared interests. The discussions also covered regional developments, with particular emphasis on efforts to de-escalate tensions, restore calm, and enhance security and stability in the region.

The ministers emphasized the importance of all parties committing to dialogue and diplomacy. They highlighted the need to implement understandings reached under the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, including ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. This is seen as vital for safeguarding regional security, preserving gains made, and promoting overall regional stability.

Safadi and Sheikh Mohammed reiterated the full support of Jordan and Qatar for efforts aimed at defusing tensions and achieving a comprehensive agreement. Such an agreement would address all causes of the crisis and deliver lasting security and stability throughout the region.
