Amman: The Senate's Jordan-Korea Friendship Committee, led by Senator Ahmad Khudari, convened with South Korean Ambassador to Jordan Kim Pil-woo to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral ties in economic, technological, and parliamentary sectors.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting featured Abdul Rahim Al-Buqai, Chairman of the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company, and underscored the enduring political and economic relations between Jordan and South Korea, attributed to the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung. Senator Khudari highlighted the potential for Korean investment in Jordan and the importance of boosting trade exchanges between the two nations.
Ambassador Kim Pil-woo expressed appreciation for the robust relations with Jordan and affirmed South Korea's dedication to advancing cooperation that benefits both countries. He reiterated support for the Palestinian people's aspiration to establish an independent state and acknowledged the growing numbers of Korean religious tourists visiting Jordan, advocating for enhanced technological and technical collaboration.
The discussions also focused on expanding parliamentary cooperation and strengthening economic, investment, educational, and cultural ties. Both parties shared views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the need for ongoing consultation, coordination, and activating the Jordan-Korea Business Council to deepen partnerships.
Committee members expressed gratitude for South Korea's support for the Palestinian cause and the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem's holy sites. They recognized significant potential for collaboration, especially in the fields of economy, technology, parliamentary relations, and religious tourism.
Abdul Rahim Al-Buqai highlighted the successful cooperation between the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company and Korean partners, emphasizing South Korea's pivotal role in energy investments.
