Jordan and Syria Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and his Syrian counterpart, Asaad al-Shibani, affirmed their continued commitment to strengthening the "deep-rooted brotherly" relations between the Kingdom of Jordan and Syria, in accordance with a comprehensive strategic vision that fosters mutual integration across various fields.

According to Jordan News Agency, during Safadi's phone call with al-Shibani, the two ministers emphasized the importance of the ongoing development in Jordanian-Syrian relations, which is reflected in cooperation in the economic, political, defense, and security sectors. The ministers also discussed regional developments and efforts aimed at ending regional escalation, calling for adhering to the ceasefire between the United States and Iran and supporting efforts to reach a comprehensive agreement.

The duo stated this vision would achieve lasting security and stability, guarantee respect for the sovereignty of states and the principles of good neighborliness, and ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Also discussing the situation in the West Bank, the two FMs stressed the need for concerted efforts to halt illegal Israeli measures that perpetuate the Israeli occupation and undermine all opportunities for achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

The two ministers affirmed their support for Lebanon's security, stability, and sovereignty over all its territory. Safadi and al-Shibani discussed Israeli attacks on Syria and Israel's attempts to threaten its security and stability, emphasizing their solidarity in confronting these threats. In this context, Safadi reiterated the Kingdom's position in supporting Syria, its security, stability, unity, and sovereignty, and Jordan's support for the Syrian government in the reconstruction process and in fulfilling the aspirations of the Syrian people.

Additionally, Safadi affirmed Jordan's condemnation of Israel's attacks on Syria and its occupation of Syrian territory, stressing the need to formulate firm regional and international positions to confront Israel's policies, which constitute a violation of international law and are pushing the region toward further conflict and tension. Safadi and al-Shibani said the two countries will continue to strengthen joint cooperation and coordination mechanisms, which would serve their interests and contribute to enhancing security and stability in the region.
