Brasilia: Jordan Customs Director General Brig Gen Ahmed Akalik actively participated in the International Halal Forum 2025 held in Brazil, which saw extensive participation from countries worldwide, including several Arab nations. The forum's objective was to enhance cooperation in halal trade and encourage the exchange of expertise among participant countries.
According to Jordan News Agency, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira emphasized the depth of Arab-Brazilian relations and the increasing trade volume between the two sides. He acknowledged the significant contributions of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Union of Islamic Institutions in strengthening these partnerships and promoting economic and cultural cooperation.
Brazilian Vice President and Minister of Trade Geraldo Alckmin reiterated Brazil's dedication to expanding collaboration with Arab countries in the halal economy and investment fields. He highlighted the importance of such events in fostering mutual economic growth and understanding.
Brig Gen Ahmed Akalik highlighted the advanced services offered by Jordan Customs to international traders and investors, particularly focusing on the use of innovative technologies like blockchain. This technology has been implemented in collaboration with Brazil under an agreement facilitated by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. Akalik expressed Jordan's readiness to act as a regional hub for trade between Arab nations and Brazil, supporting cross-border projects that further common economic interests.
On the sidelines of the forum, Akalik engaged with officials from the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Port of Santos. Discussions centered on enhancing coordination and facilitating trade for investors and merchants, thereby strengthening economic cooperation between Jordan and Brazil.
