Amman: Labor Minister Nidal Qatamin discussed cooperation between Jordan and Egypt, particularly issues related to Egyptian labor in Jordan, in a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to Amman Khaled Al-Abyad at his office Thursday.
According to Jordan News Agency, Qatamin emphasized that the ties between Jordan and Egypt serve as a key guarantee and solid foundation for protecting the interests of both countries and peoples under all circumstances. He reiterated the Labor Ministry's commitment to maintaining open communication channels to address any challenges faced by Egyptian workers within the applicable legal frameworks.
The minister also reaffirmed the ministry's dedication to regulating non-Jordanian labor, with a particular focus on Egyptian workers, acknowledging their respect and value among Jordanians. He highlighted that the Labor Law does not differentiate in labor rights between Jordanian and non-Jordanian workers. Furthermore, he pointed out that the current status-adjustment period, which concludes later this month, provides an opportunity for non-compliant Egyptian workers to regularize their status in accordance with the law.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Abyad commended the ongoing cooperation and coordination between the two sides on Egyptian labor issues, in line with directives from the leadership of both countries to strengthen cooperation across various fields. He also noted that Egyptian workers are eager to comply with Jordan's labor law and regulations, praising the continuous collaboration between the Jordanian and Egyptian labor ministries and the Egyptian Embassy in Amman.
