Petra: Fares Breizat, Chief Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), received Egypt's Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fouad Henno, and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday during an official visit aimed at strengthening cultural ties between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Arab Republic of Egypt particularly in the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage and the Arab cultural landscape.
According to Jordan News Agency, Breizat emphasized the deep-rooted and historic relations between the two countries, underscoring their shared cultural and civilizational legacy. He highlighted the importance of this visit in reinforcing bilateral cooperation, especially the strategic cultural partnership between the cities of Petra and Luxor.
The two sides discussed avenues for collaboration across various cultural domains, focusing on heritage protection, knowledge exchange, joint cultural programming, and support for youth and creative initiatives in the arts and literature.
The Egyptian delegation toured Petra's iconic landmarks, including the Siq, the Treasury, and several distinctive Nabataean monuments listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Minister Henno praised the architectural grandeur and uniqueness of Petra, commending the ongoing efforts to preserve the site and promote sustainable tourism. He lauded the PDTRA's role in cultivating cultural life in the region and affirmed that Petra stands as an eternal symbol of human heritage.
Henno also noted that visiting Petra offers a rare opportunity to witness the enduring legacy of the Nabataeans, highlighting the depth of cultural cooperation between Egypt and Jordan.
