Dublin:The Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (AQAC) from Jordan took part in a conference in Dublin, Ireland, focused on enhancing international recognition of qualifications and promoting the cross-border movement of students and skilled workers.
According to Jordan News Agency, the conference, titled "Unlocking Skills Mobility The Role of European Transparency Tools in Advancing the Skills Portability Initiative," was organized by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) as part of Ireland's 2026 presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event gathered representatives from national qualifications authorities, policymakers, and social partners from both EU and non-EU countries.
The discussions at the conference centered around two main aspects of the European Skills Portability Initiative the comparison of national qualifications frameworks from non-EU countries with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and the development and implementation of micro-credentials. Participants deliberated on methods to enhance trust and transparency in qualifications to facilitate learner and worker mobility and improve the cross-border recognition of their skills.
The event included workshops, keynote speeches, and panel discussions on European transparency tools, such as the Europass platform and national qualifications registers, along with follow-up activities after comparing qualifications frameworks with the EQF. Sessions also explored the connection between micro-credentials and non-formal education, the suitability of qualifications frameworks for regulating these credentials, and the impact of European approaches on global qualifications systems.
The commission emphasized that its participation underscores its role in managing the Jordanian National Qualifications Framework and maintaining quality standards in higher education, vocational, and technical education and training institutions. It aims to align with international developments in qualifications frameworks and quality assurance, draw lessons from global best practices, and enhance the international recognition of Jordanian qualifications, thereby supporting greater mobility for Jordanian graduates and skilled professionals.
