Cairo: Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa participated in the launch of the regional report "In Search of Justice," an event organized by the Arab Women Organization and Equality Now. The gathering saw the participation of experts, academics, and representatives from civil society organizations, as well as regional and international bodies.

According to Jordan News Agency, Minister Bani Mustafa emphasized that the pursuit of justice is a comprehensive human journey aimed at safeguarding the dignity and rights of women and girls. She addressed the global concern of violence against women, with particular focus on regions experiencing conflict such as Gaza, the West Bank, and Sudan.

The minister detailed Jordan's national strategies that align with the principles of justice and equality, highlighting the country's commitment to international conventions through strategies for social protection and women's empowerment. She explained that reform in Jordan transcends legislation, fostering a culture of fairness and long-term justice, which includes enhancing procedures and case management for violence survivors.

Bani Mustafa also discussed constitutional amendments that emphasize equality, particularly concerning family and women's rights, ensuring equal opportunities and protection from violence and discrimination. She mentioned several Jordanian laws aimed at family protection, child rights, personal status, anti-human trafficking, and labor law amendments, which collectively boost women's economic participation and family cohesion.

The minister underlined that "In Search of Justice" requires ensuring comprehensive legal protection for women and girls, closing legal gaps that allow impunity, and building transparent, responsive institutions. She stressed the importance of civil society in driving positive change.

Concluding her speech, Bani Mustafa reiterated Jordan's commitment to justice and equality, affirming its active partnership in regional and international efforts to advance women's and girls' rights. She highlighted that fair and inclusive societies are essential for sustainable development and socio-economic and political stability.
