Amman: The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) has emphasized that its weather forecasts are grounded in rigorous scientific methodologies, developed and supervised by specialists using the latest numerical models and climate data.

According to Jordan News Agency, JMD Director Raed Al Khattab highlighted a recent surge of inaccurate weather reports circulating on social media, often driven by commercial interests without consideration for their impact on the public or emergency planning efforts. He warned that unverified weather information from non-specialists can create unnecessary confusion, negatively affecting individuals and various sectors.

Al Khattab urged media outlets to combat misinformation by relying on official and credible sources to ensure accurate forecasts reach the public and protect the national interest. He emphasized the importance of media responsibility in disseminating precise information to safeguard the community.

He also noted that the Jordan Meteorological Department operates 24/7 and is accessible via multiple platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), WhatsApp, and its official website, providing timely and reliable weather updates to the public.
