Ayman Safadi, the foreign minister, Saturday met with US top officials in Amman to discuss Jordan-US ties and partnership.

US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Yael Limbert and Safadi discussed the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the two countries’ partnership, which replaces the previous one that ends at the end of September.

Safadi, who is also the deputy prime minister, praised the US for its support for Jordan, highlighting its importance for the Kingdom’s development efforts, as well as its efforts in grappling with the challenges of hosting refugees.

The US delegation reiterated the two countries’ “strategic relations” and Washington’s keenness to continue supporting the Kingdom.

They lauded Jordan for its contribution to upholding regional security and stability.
