Amman: The Jordanian Nursing Council discussed avenues for enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise with the Karbala Nursing Syndicate in Iraq, with a focus on capacity building and professional development for nursing personnel.
According to Jordan News Agency, the council issued a statement on Monday, indicating that Secretary-General Hani Nawafleh held talks with Muhammad Khaldi, Head of the Karbala Nursing Syndicate and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth in Karbala, at the council's headquarters. Nawafleh emphasized that the visit reflects the deep-rooted relations between Jordan and Iraq.
Nawafleh stated that the nursing profession constitutes a core pillar in advancing healthcare systems and that investment in nursing capacity building directly enhances the quality of healthcare services. He underscored the council's interest in expanding Arab partnerships and exchanging best professional practices.
The discussions included the exchange of expertise in developing legislation governing the nursing profession. The Jordanian experience in regulating nursing practice and updating legislative frameworks was reviewed, which includes linking legislation to professional competencies and defined scopes of practice to ensure quality performance and governance.
Both parties agreed that advancing nursing legislation is essential to empowering nurses, safeguarding the profession, and strengthening its role within healthcare systems. They noted that sharing legislative expertise contributes to building more efficient and sustainable regulatory frameworks in both countries.
The meeting also addressed the promotion of a culture of clinical simulation as a modern training approach for preparing and qualifying nursing staff. This approach plays a role in enhancing clinical readiness, developing practical skills, and supporting safe, competency-based practice in line with professional standards.
