Statistics Department and Women’s Commission Collaborate to Launch Jordanian Women’s Observatory

Amman: The Department of Statistics and the Jordanian National Commission for Women have signed a cooperation agreement to create the Jordanian Women's Observatory. This national platform aims to provide precise statistical indicators regarding the status of Jordanian women and their participation in various sectors.

According to Jordan News Agency, the commission issued a statement on Monday explaining that the agreement intends to develop both quantitative and qualitative indicators using official data sources. Additionally, it aims to design interactive dashboards to serve as a national reference for women's data, enhancing transparency and facilitating access to information.

Director General of the Department of Statistics, Haider Freihat, stated that the establishment of the observatory is a strategic step towards strengthening the national statistical system. He emphasized that the department will offer reliable indicators that reflect the realities of Jordanian women and their participation in different fields. This will aid decision-makers in formulating data-driven, evidence-based policies.

Secretary General of the commission, Maha Ali, highlighted that the observatory will be a crucial national tool for monitoring progress in women's empowerment. She stressed that the partnership with the Department of Statistics will enhance the availability of high-quality data, contributing to the development of policies and programs that support women's rights and expand their role in comprehensive development.

The agreement is part of broader national efforts to improve women-related statistical systems and to support their empowerment in political, economic, and social spheres.
