London: The Jordanian Nursing Council (JNC) and Cleveland Clinic London have signed a memorandum of understanding to launch an international nursing programme aimed at strengthening collaboration between Jordan and the United Kingdom in healthcare. This initiative focuses on capacity building for nurses, enhancing the quality of health services, expertise exchange, and providing opportunities for qualified Jordanian nurses to work in the UK.
According to Jordan News Agency, eligible Jordanian nurses who have passed the national licensure exam from the JNC, are licensed by the Ministry of Health, and have registered with both the Jordan Nurses and Midwives Council and the UK's Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), will be given the opportunity to join Cleveland Clinic London's team. The memorandum was signed during an official ceremony at Cleveland Clinic London Hospital, attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al Hussein, President of the JNC.
"This Memorandum of Understanding reflects the high caliber and professionalism of Jordanian nurses," stated Princess Muna. She highlighted that the partnership not only strengthens ties between Cleveland Clinic London and the JNC but also paves the way for broader collaboration across various healthcare fields and specialties.
Jordan's Ambassador to the UK, Manar Dabbas, emphasized the diplomatic and economic impact of the agreement, noting its role in enhancing Jordan-UK relations and creating professional opportunities for Jordanian nurses. "Through partnerships like this, we not only fill workforce gaps but also honour the immense skill, compassion, and resilience that define nursing as a global profession," Dabbas added.
Robert Lorenz, MD, President of Cleveland Clinic London, remarked that the memorandum represents a shared vision to advance world-class healthcare through international collaboration. Sheila Miller, Chief Nursing Officer at Cleveland Clinic London, echoed these sentiments, noting the potential for knowledge exchange and innovation.
The programme offers a comprehensive support framework, including assistance with the NMC registration process and support for meeting English language requirements. Jordanian nurses will receive relocation assistance to London, structured onboarding, and clinical orientation at Cleveland Clinic London to ensure smooth integration.
Ongoing professional development will be a key component, with opportunities for continuing education, access to medical research, and mentorship from senior nursing staff. The programme also provides leadership and advancement pathways, enabling high-performing nurses to progress into senior roles within Cleveland Clinic London and globally.
Participants will gain exposure to cutting-edge technology and innovative care models, including Cleveland Clinic's integrated, team-based approach to patient-centred care. The visit also allowed exploration of Cleveland Clinic London's state-of-the-art facilities and training opportunities.
