Petra Development Authority and JICA Discuss Future Tourism Projects

Petra: Chairman of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Fares Braizat, on Thursday discussed future projects with Morihata Shingo, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Jordan, in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.

According to Jordan News Agency, Braizat emphasized the importance of reinforcing joint efforts to boost tourist flow to Petra and enhance visitor services, which would strengthen the ancient city's standing as a key global tourism destination.

Braizat mentioned that the discussions covered several joint projects, particularly those backed by Japan, focusing on green transportation and sustainability initiatives. These initiatives aim to transform Petra into an eco-friendly and sustainable tourist attraction.

The meeting also considered strategies for marketing Petra in Asian markets as a means to increase tourist traffic and promote tourism growth in the archaeological site, as stated in a PDTRA statement.
