Jordanian Referee Crew Umpires Fourth Match in 2026 World Cup

Amman: FIFA appointed another all-Jordanian referee crew for a knockout match, cementing Jordan's "officiating presence as a success" in the 2026 World Cup. FIFA selected Jordanian referee Adham Makhadmeh, alongside assistants Ahmad Ruwaileh and Mohammad Bakka, to officiate the USA vs. Belgium match on Tuesday, July 7, 3am (Jordan time).

According to Jordan News Agency, the crew previously refereed Spain vs. Cape Verde and New Zealand vs. Belgium in the group stage, plus England vs. Congo in the Round of 32. Their strong performances, especially in the England-Congo match, earned high marks from FIFA assessors and praise from both regional and international media.

In remarks to "Petra," Naser Darwish, former Jordan Football Association (JFA) Head of Referees, said these knockout assignments prove Jordanian officials belong on the world stage, noting "FIFA's continued trust in the crew is a source of pride for Jordan." Football coach Omar Zaghoul noted the crew's success reflects the overall progress of Jordanian football. He stated umpiring 4 clashes is "no coincidence, but rather the direct result of their strong performances and high technical ratings."
