Baku: Senator Ghazi Al-Muqaybel stated that any steps aimed at altering the legal status of Jerusalem are null, void, illegal, and lack any legitimacy, classifying such actions as a grave violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Muqaybel made the remarks during his participation alongside Senator Omar Ayasrah, rapporteur of the Senate's Media and National Guidance Committee, at the 14th meeting of the Standing Committee on Palestine within the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC). The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 20th PUIC conference session hosted in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, according to a Senate statement released on Monday.
Al-Muqaybel emphasized that the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque/Haram al-Sharif, encompassing its entire area of 144,000 square meters, is an exclusive place of worship for Muslims. He affirmed that the Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, which is affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, serves as the sole legal and exclusive authority responsible for managing, maintaining, and regulating access to the holy site under the historic Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.
