Jordan’s Economy Grows 3.0% in Q2 2026 Amid Regional Challenges

Amman:Jordan's economy expanded by 3.0% in the second quarter of 2026, achieving the highest quarterly growth rate in years despite challenging regional conditions.

According to Jordan News Agency, this growth exceeded international financial institutions' forecasts, driven by effective government economic policies, strategic stimulus measures, and structural reforms that strengthened macroeconomic indicators.

Key sectors contributing to this expansion included agriculture, which experienced a 7.8% growth rate, followed by manufacturing at 6.2%, electricity supply at 5.0%, and water supply at 4.1%. The manufacturing sector made the largest contribution to overall GDP growth, adding 1.04 percentage points, with agriculture and wholesale and retail trade adding 0.34 and 0.25 percentage points, respectively.

Preliminary estimates highlighted a diverse economic structure, with manufacturing as the leading contributor to real GDP at 17.2%. Real estate activities, public administration and defense, and wholesale and retail trade also played significant roles, contributing 12.2%, 7.9%, and 7.1% respectively to the total real GDP.
