Tripoli: Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, Dana Al-Zoubi, led the Jordanian delegation at the 29th General Assembly of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization (AIDSMO) in Tripoli from July 14 to 16, 2026.
According to Jordan News Agency, the assembly was hosted under the patronage of Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh and included Arab ministers and delegation heads to deliberate on the organization's work program and budget for 2027-2028. The agenda included 19 projects aimed at enhancing Arab industrial integration and promoting sustainable industrial development. The assembly also focused on expanding artificial intelligence usage in the industrial and mining sectors and officially launched the Arab Industrial Indicators Platform.
Al-Zoubi emphasized the necessity of strengthening Arab industrial cooperation and developing mechanisms for enhanced regional integration. This initiative aims to improve the industrial sector's competitiveness, bolster investment, and facilitate the exchange of expertise and best practices across Arab countries. She also highlighted the importance of keeping abreast of technological advancements and digital transformation by utilizing artificial intelligence applications to update the industrial and mining sectors and bolster the global competitiveness of Arab industries.
During the proceedings, Youssef Al-Maliki was elected as the new Director General of AIDSMO, succeeding Adel Saqr. Al-Zoubi, who has been a member of the organization's Executive Council since 2024, continues to play a crucial role in overseeing AIDSMO's programs and policies, promoting industrial coordination and cooperation among Arab states, and preparing the organization's budget and final accounts for the General Assembly's approval.
