Jordan’s trade deficit increased by 22.3 percent in the first four months of 2022, to JD3.118 billion, from JD2.549 billion in the same period last year.
According to a monthly report on foreign trade released Thursday by the Department of Statistics, total exports in the January-April period this year soared by 48.3 percent to JD2.713 billion, up from JD1.829 billion in the same period of 2021.
In the reporting period, national exports increased by 52.2 percent to JD2.483 billion from JD1.631 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
E-exports reached JD230 million in the first three months of this year, the report states, representing a 16.1 percent increase over the same period last year.
Meanwhile, imports increased by 33.2 percent to JD5.832 billion, up from JD4.379 billion in the same period last year.
Furthermore, the report revealed that the export-import coverage ratio was 46.5 percent during the reporting period, up from 41.8 percent during the same period last year, a 4.7 percent increase.
National exports from Jordan increased by 83.9 percent to JD668.6 million in April of this year from JD363.5 million in the corresponding month last year.
