Governor of Aqaba Khaled Hajjaj on Sunday received JD800,000 from the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) that will go to building a specialized incident management center in the industrial zone south of the port city of Aqaba.

The center will be built on a land area of 3,900 square meters at an estimated cost of JD5 million and will have staff who are highly trained in dealing with hazardous materials and are tasked with supervising emergency plans in industrial facilities.

He explained that 10 other companies will also make a donation soon before beginning construction work on the center, lauding the JPMC’s donation.

Hajjaj stressed the importance of the center in maintaining the security system for industrial companies, reducing risks that may occur on the job and addressing emergencies that may occur in factories operating in the southern area.
