Irbid: The National Erasmus+ Office at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) organized an introductory day for the Erasmus+ program for the Northern Region on Monday. The event was attended by JUST President Dr. Khalid Al-Salem, EU Ambassador to Jordan Pierre Christophe Chatzisavas, former Minister of Health Mahmoud Sheyyab, EU Delegation Representative Mary Horvers, and Erasmus+ Director Ahmed Abu Al-Haija.
According to Jordan News Agency, the event underscores the importance of strengthening academic and research cooperation with European institutions. It aims to promote student and researcher exchanges, capacity building, and innovation support. Dr. Al-Salem emphasized that Erasmus+ acts as a bridge between Jordanian and European universities, motivating students to acquire international experience and skills essential for the global labor market.
Ambassador Chatzisavas focused on the program's contribution to fostering international cooperation, cultural understanding, and the exchange of best practices. Abu Al-Haija highlighted the significant impact of Erasmus+ on Jordanian higher education, noting that it has benefited around 8,000 students and faculty through academic mobility, curriculum development, and over 185 capacity-building projects.
The event featured sessions on applying for Erasmus+ projects and academic exchanges. Participants also had the opportunity to attend panels showcasing success stories from Jordanian universities and engage in discussions on the program's higher education priorities for 2025.
