A tangible rise in temperatures is forecast on Sunday, recording 9 degrees Celsius above annual average, as the Kingdom will be gradually affected by a Khamasini depression, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

The Khamasini depression’s name is derived from khamsin (50) in Arabic, as it occurs during the 50 days from the end of March to 10th of May.

The weather will be hot, dusty and dry in several areas, and relatively hot in the hilltops and the plains, with southeasterly moderate to brisk winds.

The weather department warned of the danger of low horizontal visibility and sometimes its lack thereof due to sandstorms, especially in the Kingdom’s Baida region.

Another rise in mercury levels is expected on Monday, with hot weather prevailing countrywide, clouds at different altitudes and southeasterly to southwesterly winds.

As for Tuesday, a significant drop in temperatures is forecast, becoming around their seasonal averages and bringing moderate spring conditions with northwesterly active winds.

Mercury in Amman today will range between a high of 31 degrees Celsius and a low of 15C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a high of 37C, sliding to 24C at night.
