Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday held talks with Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, covering bilateral relations and regional developments.

According to Jordan News Agency, the bilateral talks, followed by expanded discussions at Al Husseiniya Palace and attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, focused on means of enhancing the solid partnership between the two countries.

The discussions emphasized the commitment of Jordan and Germany to continue joint projects in crucial development sectors, such as water and education. During the initial remarks, His Majesty noted that despite regional challenges over recent years, the bilateral relations have strengthened, and cooperation has improved.

King Abdullah expressed appreciation for Germany's ongoing support for Jordan, highlighting opportunities for further collaboration to promote peace, solidarity, and prosperity in the Middle East. President Steinmeier acknowledged the close cooperation between Jordan and Germany, mentioning Germany's efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, including the delivery of a new batch of medical supplies to Jordanian hospitals in Gaza.

The talks also covered Germany's support for peace efforts based on the two-state solution and its aid to Gaza. King Abdullah stressed the importance of maintaining the Gaza ceasefire and cautioned against escalations in the West Bank.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan's Ambassador to Germany Fayez Khouri.
