Budapest: His Majesty King Abdullah II on Thursday engaged with the heads and members of parliamentary committees and groups in the Hungarian Parliament to discuss avenues for expanding cooperation between Jordan and Hungary.
According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions centered around the role of parliamentary friendship groups in fostering political dialogue and enhancing communication between the two nations. His Majesty emphasized the significance of these groups in supporting peace efforts in the Middle East. The King, accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty's chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy, underscored the potential for increased bilateral cooperation, particularly in education, tourism, and trade.
The meeting, held in Budapest, also addressed regional developments. His Majesty stressed the importance of fully implementing the agreement to end the conflict in Gaza and ensuring the delivery of urgently needed relief and medical aid. He reiterated that regional security and stability are contingent upon Palestinians achieving their full legitimate rights and the establishment of an independent state based on the two-state solution.
Members of the Hungarian Parliament expressed their commitment to expanding and deepening cooperation with Jordan, acknowledging Jordan's vital role in safeguarding the Christian presence in the region. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan's Ambassador to Hungary Mohammad Hindawi.
