Amman: Minister of Government Communication Mohammad Momani stated on Tuesday that His Majesty King Abdullah II's recent address to the European Parliament reaffirmed a clear and principled message: war is not a means of achieving peace and stability.
According to Jordan News Agency, Momani emphasized during a televised interview that the King's speech was a reflection of wisdom and reason, garnering global respect. His Majesty called for coordinated international efforts to de-escalate tensions, protect civilians, and support a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
Momani, who also serves as the government spokesperson, highlighted Jordan's commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty without favoring any party in the conflict. He refuted claims that Jordan is defending any side, declaring them false and categorically rejected. He stressed that any attempts to destabilize the kingdom would fail, as Jordan is determined to use every available tool to preserve national security.
The minister reiterated Jordan's condemnation of aggression and cautioned against the spread of disinformation and rumors aimed at harming the country's interests amidst rising regional tensions. He emphasized that Jordan will not tolerate any breach of its sovereignty and will not act as a proxy for any foreign party, maintaining its independent status and firm stance in favor of regional stability and peace.
Momani expressed concern over orchestrated campaigns by political groups attempting to misrepresent Jordan's sovereign decisions as biased. He described these efforts as misleading and offensive to Jordan's principled position. He also highlighted the government's efforts, under Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, to remain in direct contact with citizens through public awareness and safety messages via mobile alerts. All measures, he noted, are under continuous review to ensure national security and public well-being.
Regarding recent security measures, Momani explained that the decision to close Jordan's airspace was based on ongoing security assessments to ensure the kingdom's safety. He reassured the public about the sufficiency and close monitoring of food reserves, and efforts to maintain stable electricity supplies without passing fuel price increases onto citizens.
Momani concluded by emphasizing the importance of sustaining daily life amid regional volatility and warned that anticipated regional fallout could significantly impact various sectors, particularly tourism.
