Amman:Palestinian Ambassador to Jordan Atallah Khairy praised His Majesty King Abdullah II's address to the UN General Assembly, describing it as a comprehensive speech that reflected a deep understanding of international crises and proposed approaches to resolving them.
According to Jordan News Agency, Khairy highlighted the King's reaffirmation that the Palestinian cause remains a central Arab, Islamic, and international priority, emphasizing that the two-state solution is the only option for ending the conflict.
Khairy underscored the King's continued commitment to the Hashemite Custodianship over Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, supporting the preservation of the historical and legal status quo there.
The ambassador commended the King's support for UNRWA, stating it reaffirmed that the rights of Palestinian refugees are not subject to compromise and that the agency's role must be preserved.
Khairy further highlighted the King's warnings about the humanitarian and regional consequences of Israeli actions in the West Bank and Gaza, including forced displacement, destruction of civilian infrastructure, and attempts to alter the reality in the Gaza Strip.
He also noted the King's call for the international community to uphold international law and address the Palestinian-Israeli conflict rather than continue a policy of containment.
