Rome: His Majesty King Abdullah II and Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, during a crucial meeting in Rome, called for concerted efforts to ensure the full implementation of the agreement to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza. They highlighted the importance of collaborative work by all parties involved to see the agreement through to completion.
According to Jordan News Agency, both leaders emphasized the urgent need to deliver adequate humanitarian aid across all regions of the Gaza Strip. His Majesty underscored the importance of leveraging the Gaza agreement to restore peace in the area and enhance efforts towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace, grounded in the two-state solution.
The meeting, which was attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, saw King Abdullah II commend Italy's significant role in the humanitarian response in Gaza and its steadfast support for the two-state solution. The King also raised concerns about the potential for escalations against Palestinians in the West Bank and the ongoing attacks on holy sites in Jerusalem.
His Majesty expressed gratitude for Italy's initiative in hosting the upcoming round of Aqaba Process meetings, scheduled for Wednesday, focusing on the West Africa region. The discussions, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty's chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy, also explored the historical ties between Jordan and Italy and potential areas for expanding cooperation.
The meeting was further attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh.
