Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday met with heads of the House of Representatives' permanent committees at Al Husseiniya Palace, according to a royal court statement. The meeting, which was also attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, focused on addressing several pressing domestic affairs and regional developments.
According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions highlighted the precarious situation in Gaza, escalations in the West Bank, and emphasized the importance of supporting stability in Syria and Lebanon. His Majesty underscored the outcomes of his recent visit to the United States and a pivotal meeting in Riyadh with several Arab leaders. During these discussions, he reiterated Jordan's steadfast position against displacement and advocated for efforts to rebuild Gaza.
House of Representatives Speaker Ahmad Safadi and the heads of the permanent committees expressed their gratitude for the King's unwavering support for Arab causes, particularly his solidarity with the Palestinian people. They affirmed their dedication to maintaining the Chamber's legislative and oversight responsibilities and emphasized their commitment to implementing the three modernization tracks. The committees also pledged to continue their close cooperation with the government to serve Jordan and its interests effectively.
The meeting was also attended by Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh.
