Amman: Ministries of Labor and Water and Irrigation on Thursday discussed ways to employ Jordanian workers in the National Water Carrier Project. During the meeting, held at the Ministry of Labor headquarters, Minister of Transport and Labor, Dr. Nidal Qatamin, emphasized that the project is one of the largest infrastructure endeavors in the Kingdom's history and a key component of the Economic Modernization Vision. He highlighted the project's potential to generate job opportunities for Jordanians.
According to Jordan News Agency, Dr. Qatamin stated that the Ministry, along with the Vocational Training Corporation and other affiliated institutions, is fully prepared to collaborate with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation and the project management. The aim is to identify the needs of various professions and provide necessary training for Jordanian youth, equipping them with the required experience to work on significant projects, both within Jordan and internationally.
He further reiterated the ministry's commitment to integrating government efforts in implementing national projects, urging the training of young people in professions essential for the project's execution, which will subsequently open up future job opportunities for them in other initiatives.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Water Secretary General Jehad Mahamid emphasized that the project's success necessitates concerted efforts from state institutions, an effective partnership with the private sector, and support from international partners. He pointed out that the Ministry of Water has several upcoming projects that will require qualified and trained Jordanian manpower.
In agreement, the project's director, Saddam Khelifat, expressed the project management's keen interest in coordinating with the Ministry of Labor and the Vocational Training Corporation to train Jordanian youth in essential professions for the project's implementation phases. Khelifat also announced that the management has already started identifying the necessary professions required for this purpose.
This meeting underscores the collaborative efforts in providing qualified and trained Jordanian workers to effectively carry out the project.
