Amman: Lower House Speaker, Ahmad Safadi, on Sunday conducted separate meetings with Hungarian Ambassador Peter Jakab and Bulgarian Ambassador Metin Kazak to explore issues of mutual interest, focusing particularly on parliamentary relations.
According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi emphasized the urgency for collective efforts to halt the conflict in Gaza, enhance international initiatives to ensure the delivery of critical humanitarian aid, and oppose any plans to occupy the strip or escalate tensions in the West Bank. He reiterated Jordan's stance on establishing a Palestinian state based on the two-state solution.
In his discussion with Jakab, which included the presence of Deputy Speaker Huda Naffa and head of the Jordanian-Hungarian Parliamentary Friendship Association MP Ibrahim Sarayreh, Safadi highlighted Jordan's commitment to bolstering bilateral ties for mutual benefits, particularly in trade and cultural exchanges. Safadi expressed Jordan's desire to expand scholarship opportunities for Jordanian students at Hungarian universities and to deepen collaboration with the Hungarian Parliament. Jakab, in turn, praised Jordan's efforts under His Majesty King Abdullah II in addressing regional issues, emphasizing the Kingdom's continuous pursuit of security, stability, and peaceful resolutions.
During the meeting with Kazak, attended by MP Abdul Haleem Ananbeh, head of the Jordanian-Bulgarian Parliamentary Friendship Association, Safadi advocated for enhanced cooperation across all sectors, notably economic and educational, and for leveraging promising opportunities in the tourism industry. Both sides confirmed their eagerness to strengthen parliamentary ties to advance shared interests.
