Minister Suspends Tourism Violations Matrix for Overhaul

Amman: Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Imad Hijazin, has suspended the sector's professional violations matrix and the resulting penalties, which were implemented at the beginning of this year, as per the provisions of Article (11) of the Amended Tourism Law of 2024.

According to Jordan News Agency, Hijazin announced that this decision will allow for a comprehensive revamp of the system's provisions and penalties to ensure they align with the law's regulations. The minister emphasized that the overhaul will consider the operations of the Kingdom's tourist establishments and the challenges they face.

Hijazin highlighted that the process will identify key violations within the tourist sector and address their root causes. This effort aims to maintain service levels while protecting the rights of investors and workers. He assured that oversight teams will continue monitoring violations and taking necessary legal actions against critical irregularities to ensure a secure environment for tourists and visitors.

The minister reiterated the ministry's commitment to strengthening partnerships with the private sector to advance the Kingdom's tourist sector, which is a significant pillar of the national economy and a major source of job creation. He noted that the ultimate goal of revamping the matrix is to achieve a balanced approach that ensures justice, supports business continuity, and promotes sustainable tourism growth in Jordan.
