Amman: Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU) has entered into a memorandum of understanding and a research cooperation agreement with University Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), ushering in a new era of academic collaboration. The agreements were signed during a virtual ceremony conducted using advanced virtual reality technology.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ceremony was attended by academic and official representatives from both universities, who presented the profiles and missions of BAU and UMK. Ahmad Al-Ajlouni, President of Al-Balqa Applied University, highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership, emphasizing its reflection of the universities' shared belief in the role of knowledge and research in addressing global challenges.

He stated that the agreement will spearhead joint research initiatives in key areas such as clean energy, healthcare, sustainable agriculture, and digital innovation. These initiatives align with BAU's mission to bolster international partnerships that promote sustainable development.

The Malaysian Ambassador to Amman, Mohammad Nasri bin Abdul Rahman, stressed the collaboration's significance in strengthening academic and scientific ties between Jordan and Malaysia. He noted that it would expand opportunities for joint research, academic exchange, and cross-border knowledge sharing.

The agreements were signed within a three-dimensional virtual reality environment, followed by a virtual group photo and closing remarks. This innovative approach showcases both universities' ability to utilize cutting-edge technologies to create flexible, effective, and forward-looking international partnerships that surpass geographical constraints.

The agreements are anticipated to open new avenues for cooperation in research, academic program development, and joint scientific projects, enhancing the quality of higher education while contributing to community and regional development.

University Malaysia Kelantan, founded in 2006, has rapidly become one of Malaysia's leading public universities. Known as the "Entrepreneurial University," UMK emphasizes entrepreneurship, innovation, and applied sciences. It has received ACEEU accreditation as an entrepreneurial university, making it one of the first Malaysian institutions to achieve this international recognition.

The partnership with Al-Balqa Applied University highlights both institutions' dedication to advancing international cooperation in higher education and research, fostering innovation and sustainable development in line with global academic trends.
