Amman: Minister of Transport and Labor Nidal Qatamin and Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah engaged in discussions with representatives from the shipping, logistics, customs clearance, and business sectors to implement urgent measures aimed at improving the movement of goods through Aqaba Port and Jordan's border crossings.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting concentrated on maintaining the continuity of supply chains and managing transit traffic, particularly through the Karameh Border Crossing with Iraq, amidst current regional challenges. The discussions identified the primary operational challenges impacting import, export, and transit activities, leading to an agreement on a series of measures designed to eliminate obstacles and expedite cargo movement.

The participants underscored the importance of speeding up customs clearance and inspection processes, reducing vessel waiting times at Aqaba Port, and minimizing container dwell times. These steps are intended to enhance logistics efficiency, decrease costs for importers and exporters, and boost Aqaba Port's competitiveness as a regional trade and transit hub.

Both ministers highlighted the necessity for ongoing collaboration between government bodies and private sector institutions. They committed to implementing swift executive actions to resolve any issues affecting cargo movement, thereby ensuring the seamless flow of goods and maintaining the readiness of Jordan's transport and logistics infrastructure to address current needs.
