Yarmouk: Minister of Local Administration Walid Masri, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Imad Hijazin, Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman, and Minister of Education Azmi Mahafzah visited the Yarmouk Forest Biosphere Reserve to review the progress of an ecolodge project. This visit took place on Saturday evening as part of their efforts to enhance ecotourism and environmental sustainability in northern Jordan.
According to Jordan News Agency, the Yarmouk Forest Biosphere Reserve is managed by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature. During the visit, the ministers toured the site and assessed various programs implemented within the reserve. The focus was on the ecolodge project, which is seen as a significant initiative for promoting ecotourism and preserving the region's forests and biodiversity.
The ministers emphasized the project's importance in creating job opportunities for local communities and boosting tourism in the area. They highlighted the potential of the ecolodge to serve as a model for ecotourism across the country, showcasing a successful collaboration between government institutions and the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature.
Reserve Director Mohammad Malkawi described the ecolodge as a leading model for ecotourism in Jordan. He noted that the project exemplifies how cooperation between various entities can advance environmental protection and sustainable development in the region.
