Ministry Recognizes Disability Status of Household Heads as Humanitarian Case for Student Grants, Loans

Amman: The Directorate of Scholarships at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on Tuesday, in cooperation with the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), the adoption of the humanitarian case status for household heads with disabilities, in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Law No. 20 of 2017.

According to Jordan News Agency, the directorate stated that the ministry will recognize long-term impairments affecting neurological, physical, sensory, intellectual, or psychological functions. These impairments must be verified through the identification card issued by the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to qualify as a humanitarian case. This recognition will enable the children of these household heads to compete for grants and loans offered by the ministry.

The directorate has urged household heads who wish for their children to benefit from this humanitarian case status to visit the council's website at or to contact the council's liaison offices located across the kingdom's three regions.
