The National Aid Fund (NAF) on Tuesday held an event to introduce social protection systems, aimed to help the impoverished segments in Jordan and Palestine. According to a NAF statement, the event was held, in cooperation between the World Food Programme (WFP) and the two countries' ministries of social development. Addressing experts in the social protection field, NAF Director General, Khitam Shenikat, stressed the importance of exchanging ideas and visions on a "vital" issue that touches the lives of the poorest individuals in Arab societies, which would develop social protection systems. Shenikat also discussed the NAF's experience on social protection, especially cash assistance programs, which expanded with the launch of the Social Protection Strategy (2019-2025). In this regard, she noted the segment of the poor workers was supported, according to an assistance mechanism, which was viewed "the best" in the Middle East and North Africa region, adding that this effort enabled the Jordanian governmen t during the Covid pandemic to implement temporary support programs for day laborers and other government aid activities. Shneikat touched on the NAF's adoption of a modern platform using digital technologies to automate assistance processes, starting from the registration stage to aid disbursement.
