National Agricultural Research Center Secures £150,000 EU Grant for Soil Health Research

Amman: The National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) has secured its fourth European Union grant, valued at £150,000, for soil health research.

According to Jordan News Agency, NARC Director General Khaled Abu Hammour announced that the funding was awarded through competitive selection under the HORIZON-EUROPE program. The project, titled "Multifaceted Integration of Biodiversity for Healthy Soil and Resilient Agricultural Management," will be implemented in partnership with 19 European institutions, with Jordan represented by NARC as the sole Middle Eastern partner.

Abu Hammour explained that NARC's role in the project will be executed by a team from the Environmental and Climate Change Research Directorate. The focus will be on utilizing crop modeling programs and decision support tools to improve farm management by simulating production variations according to different climate change scenarios. He noted that such projects strengthen agricultural research collaboration between NARC and various European universities, research centers, and private sector companies specializing in agricultural production.

The Director General commended the European Union's support for pioneering projects that NARC is implementing to serve the agricultural sector.
