Tel Aviv: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed Defense Minister Yoav Galant on Tuesday evening and announced the appointment of Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz to take over the ministry in his place. Israeli Channel 12 reported that the decision came in an official announcement issued by Netanyahu's office, marking the second time he has announced the dismissal of Galant, with the previous instance linked to a plan and legislation to weaken the judiciary in March 2023. According to Jordan News Agency, Netanyahu stated that his primary responsibility as head of the government of Israel is to maintain the country's security and achieve victory. He emphasized that amid the ongoing conflict, full trust between the prime minister and the defense minister is more crucial than ever. Netanyahu remarked that while there was considerable trust and productive collaboration during the initial months of the campaign, recent months have seen a deterioration of this trust. He highlighted that significant gaps have developed between him and the defense minister in managing the battle, coupled with statements and actions that contradict the decisions of the government and the Knesset.
