Amman: An expanded meeting was held Sunday in Amman to finalize preparations for the opening and operation of the Permanent Exhibition of Badia and Rural Products.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting brought together Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat, Minister of Environment Muawiya Radaideh, Director General of the Jordan Cooperative Corporation Abdul Fattah Shalabi, and UNDP Representative in Jordan Randa Aboul-Hosn. This initiative is part of ongoing government efforts and international partnerships aimed at supporting rural communities and economically empowering them through the establishment of a permanent marketplace to showcase and sell products from rural families and cooperatives across the Kingdom.
Discussions during the meeting focused on operational mechanisms, task distribution among partner agencies, and the implementation of technical and marketing management plans. The participants stressed the importance of intersectoral collaboration between public institutions, the private sector, and civil society organizations to ensure the success and sustainability of the project.
Participants also underscored the need to promote the exhibition as a national initiative, raising public awareness through media outreach to generate continued community engagement and maximize its economic impact.
The fully equipped exhibition is designed to serve as a permanent and specialized marketing hub for agricultural, food, and craft products produced by rural families and cooperatives. It aims to support the development of traditional food industries, enhance rural handicrafts, and boost tourism and local economic activity.
Strategically located near the Seventh Circle in Amman, the exhibition includes dedicated product display areas, a restaurant offering traditional Jordanian cuisine, green spaces, and visitor parking. It is intended to function as an integrated destination for tourism and marketing.
The exhibition is also expected to create direct and indirect job opportunities particularly in underprivileged areas by supporting agricultural value chains and improving market access, contributing to sustainable economic and social development.
