The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that the failure to hold Israel and the perpetrators of crimes against the Palestinian people accountable provides Israel with impunity to carry on with its practices.
The ministry added in a statement Wednesday that by not holding Israel accountable, it is encouraged to continue the occupation and apartheid while undermining the basis for a fair political settlement to the conflict.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry warned the international community against viewing the occupation’s violations and crimes, as if they were the usual and new normal, simply because they are repeated every day and do not necessitate any serious action to realize the magnitude of the suffering and pain endured by Palestinian citizens and their families.
The ministry emphasized that the Palestinian people are not only victims of the occupation, but also of double international standards and the international community’s failure to fulfill its obligations and responsibilities and to put its decisions on the Palestinian cause into effect.
The ministry condemned the ongoing bloody Israeli escalation against Palestinian citizens and their existence in their motherland, stating that Israel engages in the worst forms of oppression, abuse, and violence against them in every aspect of their lives.
The ministry cited repeated Israeli incursions into Palestinian population centers, indiscriminate mass arrests, and the intimidation of civilians, including women, children, the elderly, and the sick. It also noted the crimes of demolishing homes, facilities, and farms, as well as the attacks on Palestinian citizens by armed settlers.
According to the ministry, the so-called settlement councils in the occupied West Bank are now taking the law into their own hands in order to seize more Palestinian land and establish dozens of random settlement outposts in multiple areas of the occupied West Bank.
