Haifa: Palestinian prisoner Imad Sarhan on Sunday died in Gilboa Prison following a cardiac arrest, Israeli occupation authorities notified his family, without details on the circumstances of death or his medical condition. Sarhan, 47, was from Haifa and had been held since 2001, serving a life sentence.
According to Jordan News Agency, in a joint statement, the Palestinian Commission of Detainees' Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society said Sarhan suffered prolonged, harsh interrogations and systematic torture during the early years of his detention. The statement added that these conditions left lasting and serious damage on Sarhan's health, steadily worsening his condition throughout his years of imprisonment.
