PDTRA, Accor Discuss Expanding Tourism Investment in Petra

Petra: Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Fares Breizat, met on Wednesday with Paul Stevens, CEO of Accor in the Middle East and Africa, and his accompanying delegation to discuss investment opportunities in the region.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting, attended by the PDTRA Board of Commissioners, aligns with the Authority's strategy to expand investment in Petra and enhance its global tourism appeal. Breizat highlighted recent regulatory measures undertaken by the Authority and emphasized Petra's historical significance as a leading international tourist destination.

He outlined ongoing efforts to position Petra as a sustainable tourism hub, including the development of 16 cultural tourism experiences, 27 new visitor routes within the archaeological reserve, improvements in transportation services, and initiatives to attract high-end hospitality investments.

Breizat also underscored the PDTRA's goal of elevating hotel services in Petra beyond five-star standards to cater to a wider range of tourists and boost local employment opportunities.

Stevens and his delegation expressed appreciation for the organizational framework governing Petra's archaeological reserve, noting its potential for investment and the opportunity to introduce world-class tourism services to the region.

Accor, a leading global hospitality group, manages 5,584 properties across 110 countries, offering over 821,000 rooms under various hospitality brands.
