PDTRA Chief, Labor Minister Explore Development and Employment Initiatives

Petra: Chief Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Fares Braizat met on Wednesday with Minister of Labor Khaled Bakkar and his accompanying delegation to discuss ways to enhance development and investment, supporting local projects and tourism while creating job opportunities for the local community.

According to Jordan News Agency, Braizat emphasized the Authority's commitment to strengthening partnerships with national institutions to achieve sustainable development in the Petra region and maintain its status as a premier tourist and developmental destination.

During the meeting, attended by Social Security Investment Fund Chairman Omar Malhas and CEO Ezzedine Kanakrieh, the minister highlighted the importance of supporting PDTRA's efforts to develop youth skills through vocational training programs, equipping new training centers, and providing support for productive projects that generate employment and empower local communities.

The delegation also visited the Shaqila Handicrafts Center, operated by the PDTRA, which trains local residents in traditional crafts and artisanal skills, aiming to economically empower them and enhance the sustainability of Petra's cultural heritage.
