Amman: Pearson Assessments has announced the establishment of a new professional testing center in Amman, located in the Jordanian Nursing Council building. This initiative aims to serve candidates from Jordan and the wider Middle East, further solidifying the Kingdom's status as a regional hub for international professional accreditation in healthcare and related fields.
According to Jordan News Agency, the newly inaugurated center is set to offer up to 7,200 exams annually. These will span professional certifications and international licensing tests across key sectors, all within a secure, technology-enabled testing environment that guarantees exam integrity and a high-quality candidate experience.
Pearson will also administer the international licensing exam for registered nurses on behalf of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing in the United States, marking a pioneering initiative in the region. This effort aims to enhance access for nursing professionals and supports global endeavors to address the shortage of qualified nursing staff.
In addition to nursing exams, the center will provide a variety of high-demand international exams in fields such as information technology, project management, and graduate business admissions. It will also offer UK nursing and midwifery tests, thereby further reinforcing Jordan's role as a regional platform for professional certification.
Laura Peterson, Managing Director of Pearson Professional Assessments, stated that the launch in Amman signifies a substantial expansion of the company's global testing network. This expansion will enable more candidates to obtain certifications and licenses that advance their careers while meeting the increasing demand for skills locally and internationally.
Secretary-General of the Nursing Council, Hani Nawafleh, explained that Jordan was chosen to host the center due to its security, stability, advanced regulatory environment, and strategic regional location. Under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Kingdom has been positioned as a regional hub for education and capacity building.
This initiative reflects the vision and ongoing efforts of Her Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein, president of the council, in advancing the nursing profession and enhancing Jordan's standing in international accreditation and testing. Nawafleh also highlighted that the center could foster a new niche in "exam tourism," drawing candidates from across the region to take professional tests in Amman, thereby supporting the knowledge economy and reinforcing Jordan's role as a hub for certification, continuous education, and international accreditation.
