Maan: The Jordan Breast Cancer Program (JBCP), an initiative of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, organized a significant awareness and community event in collaboration with Al-Hussein Bin Talal University and the All Jordan Youth Commission - Maan, as part of the "Pink October" campaign. The event, themed "You Are the Foundation Get Checked," focused on raising awareness about the critical importance of early detection of breast cancer. Held at the university's Deanship of Student Affairs Theatre, the occasion sought to instill a preventive culture among women and encourage regular checkups.
According to Jordan News Agency, the event was conducted under the patronage of Maan Governor Khaled Hajjaj and attended by several notable figures, including University President Atef Kharabsheh and Queen Rania Al Abdullah Hospital Director Dr. Mousa Al-Shalabi. Representatives from government institutions and university students also participated, highlighting the community's collective commitment to health awareness.
Governor Hajjaj underscored the necessity of promoting health awareness, especially concerning preventable diseases through early screening and public education. He shared his personal journey with illness, attributing his recovery to a positive mindset, stress management, and the relentless support of healthcare professionals in the Kingdom.
Bana Al Dabbas, JBCP Director of Communication and Social Marketing, mentioned that the program persistently implements a series of awareness campaigns and initiatives throughout Jordan. These efforts are in partnership with various entities to encourage self-examination, early detection, and to provide psychological and moral support to survivors and their families.
The event included a range of activities such as an educational video on early detection, a musical performance by kindergarten students from Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, a storytelling session by a cancer survivor, and the distribution of informational brochures on self-examination and regular screening.
