Amman: The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) has announced that the initiative to introduce composite (plastic) gas cylinders into the Jordanian market is nearing completion.
According to Jordan News Agency, final technical tests are currently being conducted to establish the necessary infrastructure. This is being done in coordination with the Kingdom's relevant authorities, all in preparation for the official licensing of these cylinders for local sale.
The EMRC clarified that no licenses have been issued yet for the importation or filling of these plastic cylinders. The issuance of such licenses will require adherence to all approved regulatory and technical standards. Consumers will have the choice to use either the new plastic cylinders or the existing types, but will bear any additional costs associated with their choice.
As for the next steps, the EMRC stated that it will officially announce the commencement of local sales once all necessary procedures and approvals are finalized. The commission also urged investors and relevant authorities to stay updated on the progress within the established regulatory framework.
